Enthusiasm for retrieving and social play is not evidence that a growing Golden Retriever is ready for more impact. Follow the manual's growth-plate protections, avoid repetitive ball throwing and repeated fast turns, and favour self-paced low-impact exploration, scent work, problem-solving and controlled retrieving with clear rests.
GOOD = low-impact sniffing, self-paced ground play and structured tug; NOT YET = repeated stairs, jumping or running beside a bicycle while growth plates are developing.
Before twelve months: limit impact, keep exploration
Replace repetitive impact with low-impact, puppy-controlled activity.
